
Katie Matthews
Katie Matthews is a consulting actuary with Milliman’s Health Practice. She is located in Denver, Colorado, and joined the firm in 2013.
Experience
Katie’s areas of expertise include commercial pricing strategy, underwriting, and rate filing support in multiple states, Medicare Advantage bid pricing, provider contracting support, and behavioral health. Her recent work has included working with commercial insurers in developing strategic payment mechanisms that best fit insured populations, risk adjustment analysis, and MLR and year-end financial reporting. She also has completed return-on-investment analyses of multiple care management and integration programs with varying care model structures. Katie has completed substantial research regarding the impact of MHPAEA and opioid use disorder on utilization of healthcare services and other costs. In behavioral health, Katie has worked with health plan issuers and employers in determining compliance under Mental Health Parity, as well as measuring cost savings, estimating intervention program or point solution impacts, and developing cost and utilization benchmarking.
